They later went on to win Dreamhack Master Malmo, placing second at Starladder Starseries I-League Season 8, and placing third to fourth at the ECS season 8 finals, after losing to Team Liquid in the semi-finals.

The European-mixed team led by Niko defeated once-dominant Team Liquid in two different best-of-three series. There were times when everyone was fearful of FaZe, but the team’s lacklustre performance in early 2019 has revealed their flaws as they had no teamwork and their strategy were mainly based on winning individual duels. Fortunately things turned for the better as they removed GuardiaN and NEO and added coldzera into their lineup, resulting in their win in BLAST Pro Series Copenhagen 2019.

In short, there is a lot of potential for FaZe Clain overall. In spite of their lack of a proper in-game leader, the perfect synergy from broky and coldzerra could prove to be an excellent thing for the team.

Natus Vincere

Even though Mad Lions did not make it to ESL’s Top 10 CSGO team (they are ranked 16th in the world), the newly-established Spanish esports team had a good start to Spring Split as they went 5-3 in the first four weeks which meant that they were in a 3-way-tie for 4th just one win behind first place. They however continued to show varying performances throughout the rest of the split but due to beating their opponents Misfits Gaming and Origen in the last two weeks they secured 4th place with 11-7 record which meant a place in the upper bracket of playoffs.

Last year has proven to be great for Mad Lions, as their captain Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen led the team under the Tricked Esports banner, to victory. Their biggest victory to date came at the V4 Future Sports Festival 2019, which saw them beat MiBR and Virtus.pro to capture the event’s top prize. Now they carry this moment forward into 2020. In the semi-finals of the ICE Challenge in London, they defeated the newly formed OG roster and barely lost to mousesports.

While Mad Lions may be a force to reckon this year, they may have to work on their firepower to outdo themselves for the second half of 2020. Vitality

ZywOo is arguably the best CSGO player in the world right now and Vitality seems to be doing fine even as a one-man team at first glance. But the decision of replacing Nbk- for shox has virtually wiped Vitality off the radar in the Top CSGO team list. Despite their excellent play in DreamHack Masters Malmö 2019, Their earlier performances have revealed inconsistencies which cost them a winning ticket to StarSeries i-League Season 8 finals. Therefore, if the team does not change their lineups in the near future, they may risk getting kicked out of the top 5. Or perhaps, ZywOo may look for a new team who can properly tap into his potential.

Evil Geniuses

So far, Evil Geniuses have been doing pretty well in the group stage of Blast Premier Series 2020. But in reality, most of their stats are padded based on qualifiers that they are involved in.

Currently, the Seattle-based team had its fair share of victories in 2019. Their intense battle with Astralis in the grand final of ESL One New York 2019 has gained them a second place as they lost the match point match with a score of 20-22. They fared better in the StarSeries i-League CS:GO Season 8 as they defeated Fnatic to clinch the No. 1 spot, while Ethan was named MVP of the event.
