What Are Case Hardened Skins?

If you’re serious about skins collecting, you’ve probably already heard about the famous Case Hardened skins family. Case Hardened skins are among some of the most expensive weapon skins in the game, and feature a unique look that’s impossible to copy. Each Case Hardened has been color case-hardened through the application of wood charcoal at high temperatures. This process gives each of the skins an awesome patina finish, with little color streaks on various parts of the weapon.

There are many different Case Hardened skins added to the game throughout CS2’s existence. Although the Case Hardened knife skins definitely take the cake when it comes to being the most impressive visually, the AK-47, one of the most popular assault rifles in the game, was actually the first weapon to receive a Case Hardened skin. Released as a part of the Arms Deal collection with the first Valve update introducing skins to CS:GO, AK-47 Case Hardened skin always had a high price for Factory New and even Minimal Wear versions, ever since its release.

What Are The Blue Gem Skins?

If you’re familiar with Case Hardened skins, you have definitely heard about Blue Gem skins, some of the most expensive skins in CS2. Blue Gem skins are extremely rare versions of Case Hardened skins, with a pattern index that creates a small piece of blue color somewhere on the body of the skin. The price for an individual Case Hardened skins therefore varies greatly, depending on its patterns. Case Hardened skins are relatively expensive at every wear level, however, some, like the famous Karambit Blue Gem, can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and many CS2 skin collectors are willing to cough up some serious money to get a blue gem skin for themselves. An owner of the legendary Karambit Blue Gem was offered $1500000 for his weapon skin, and even he turned it down, claiming that the other trader was still low-balling him!

Why Is The New AK-47 Case Hardened So Expensive?

As you can see, some of the Case Hardened skins can be insanely expensive, depending on their pattern index. One person lucky enough to open such a weapon skin was an Asian CS2 player, who’s extremely rare AK-47 Blue Gem skin has been spotted on the public markets database, and was successfully discovered by a CS2 streamer, ohnePixel, who posted about the discovery to gis social media. The skin in question, is the extremely rare AK-47 Case Hardened StatTrak #661 Scar Pattern version. ohnePixel has estimated the price of this weapon skin for around $1000000.

So, why is this assault rifle skin so expensive? There are a couple of reasons for this. One is the rare scar pattern visible on the gun body. Just like the blue gem skins feature a thinly piece of the blue color resembling a gem, scar pattern weapon skins feature a weathered scar running down the gun’s body. This gives it an awesome look, combining combat experience and style.

While there were other wear level versions of this weapon skin available with StatTrak, this is the first Factory New AK-47 Case Hardened in this pattern index that was ever opened.

In Conclusion
